Currency Rates
Read the currency matrix and convert an amount.
Currency Rates combines a reference exchange-rate matrix with an amount converter. Use it to translate a value between currencies or compare several currency relationships in one view.
Open PANELS → Currency Rates. The refresh and currency-selection buttons sit above the converter; the matrix fills the rest of the panel.
Read the matrix
A row is the source currency and a column is the destination currency. The cell gives the destination amount for one unit of the source. In the illustrated example, USD → EUR is approximately 0.88563, so 1 USD corresponds to 0.88563 EUR at those reference rates.
Follow the row and column highlights to check the intersection. The reverse pair is a different cell. The diagonal is a dash because it compares a currency with itself; a missing rate elsewhere is also shown as a dash, not zero.
Convert an amount
- Enter a nonnegative Amount above the matrix.
- Select the source in From and the destination in To.
- Read the result. Using the illustrated rate, 1,000 USD corresponds to about 885.63 EUR; this is an example, not a current quote.
- Click the result to copy the formatted amount and currency.
- Use the swap button between the selectors to reverse From and To. The input amount stays the same, so the new calculation converts that amount in the opposite direction.
Choose currencies and refresh
Click Manage currencies at the top and use its checkboxes to include or remove matrix currencies. At least one currency remains selected. This changes the matrix; it does not restrict the converter's currency choices.
Scroll horizontally or vertically when the matrix is larger than the panel. This matrix is a currency intersection view; the sorting and filtering controls described for data grids do not apply here.
Rates refresh automatically every 30 minutes. The circular-arrow button requests an update sooner. The panel calculates reference conversions; it does not execute a currency exchange or add the fees and spreads of a transaction service.
